So you might have noticed your followers aren’t as engaged as you’d like them to be. Don’t worry. After reading this, you’ll know just what to do to engage your followers!
There are times when I notice that my followers don’t engage with my account as much. Those are the times I realize I may not be giving them what they want and need! Remember you are catering to your ideal follower but your followers may not always fill that mold exactly which is why you can use these tips to help gather your audience’s attention, while still catering to your ideal follower.
First, have you delved deeper into your niches? I’m sure that when you first started out you wanted to keep your ideas fairly broad to pull in more followers, but when you post “fluff” as I like to call it your followers won’t feel the desire to engage with your posts, stories, reels and IGTV. They need to really relate to your content on a more personal level. So go deeper! How are you serving your audience? If I went to your account right now would I learn something or find a greater message than just an offer of a product or simplified idea?
To engage your followers forget the fluff!
Does your content jump between too many topics in a short period of time? If your content is too sporadic your followers may not be getting that personalized instagram content that they chose to follow you for. Keep your content fairly continuous to keep the attention of your audience. Now this doesn’t mean you need to throw out some of your passions but keeping a consistent flow to your feed will help your followers know what kind of content they can rely on viewing from you.
When creating stories, posts, and reels, try relating a topic to a personal experience. Choose an experience that helped shape who you are. Use your personal experiences to take your audience on a journey for a short period of time! For example when making a reel, add a personal experience to the description section of your reel. You’d be surprised how many people read that section. Your followers want that connection with you!
Lastly, you may actually be doing all of the above and simply do not have the right audience! I know that there are times my husband will pick up my phone and scroll through my instagram feed and get confused as to why there are so many reels about online boutiques! With the problem of getting the wrong audience you’ll need to put a little more intention behind your posts.
